The 1970 original horror film titled, "The Wizard of Gore", was directed by Herschell Gordon Lewis. The film stars actor Ray Sager as Montag the Magnificent, a magician/illusionist who uses hypnosis to perform grisly stage tricks. Montag's audience is horrified when they see female volunteers mutilated on stage by the magician's swords, chain saw and drill press. Montag opens his act with the words, "What is real? How do you know at this second you aren't asleep in your beds, dreaming that you are here in this theatre?"
